The Virtues of Support Workers
I’ve called this video “The Virtues of Support Workers” because I genuinely believe in them and their importance. Even though some folks think they’re overused, I reckon we, including my friends and I, use them wisely.
I’ve had my fair share of criticism for the NDIS, especially after all the changes in 2024, but I’ve got to give them credit for being able to fund our wonderful support workers.
For us who are self managed and able to choose our own support workers. They do a brilliant job, helping with everyday tasks like shopping, going out for a meal, and assisting around the house with cleaning, spotting stains on clothes, and helping with hair, makeup, and wardrobe.
So, thanks to the NDIS for funding those people for us!
We in the blind community are more than capable of deciding when, how, and why we use them. I’d also like to thank our support workers for the amazing work they do for us. It’s much appreciated by the entire blind community. Cheers!
